David And Goliath (Redux) Poem by Kevin Patrick

David And Goliath (Redux)

Rating: 5.0

He flung the pebble
and Goliath fell
then with his great sword
took the head as well

and with a smile
David raised the head
crying with havoc
"and now we are free!

"How cruel", said a voice
down in the valley
"he killed that poor giant
who caused that mayhem"

"how dare that child"
spat out a cleric
challenge his better
hes disrupted our order"

"yes said a socialite
scolding at David
"you anarchist scum
respect your tyrants! "

"Goliath was great!
Laughed a contrarian
"so he killed the weak
that's how it should be"

"that boy should be hanged"
cried an old women
"we have a system
and he tore it down"

"true said the merchant
"think of the giant
they HAVE to crush us
its just good business"

David stood frozen
then threw the head down
then turning his back
walked away in disgust

What's the point, he thought
you can never free
the minds of the mob
who bow down to evil

Brilliant, Kevin! This goes to my favourites. That mob, I suspect it's either kowtowing or sleeping.
