Dead With And Without You Poem by Joanna Hamilton

Dead With And Without You

You left me.
I’m all alone
In this world
Without you.

I tried so hard,
But it wasn’t
Good enough
For you.

To stay would have been
Like magic,
Like gasoline
On a fire –

Explosive –
In a bad way.
I know that it’s true,
But still,

Would you understand
If I said
That I will always
Love you?

Bruises fade and
Broken bones heal,
But hearts can only
Take such a beating once.

My body is nothing
Compared to my heart,
And my heart is what
Wants you here.

Stronger than the pain,
Stronger than the hate,
More than the body casts
Can hold together,

My love for you
Will tear it all apart
At the first sign
Of weakness.

I will love you forever
No matter how hard you hit,
How desperately you hate,
How much you love other women.

You will always be mine
I know it will kill me,
But I’m okay with that,
Life is death without you anyway.
