Dear Absent Father Poem by Randy McClave

Dear Absent Father

Rating: 5.0

Dear absent father
Don't think that your child is ever a bother,
Never assume that the mother taught the child to hate you
Or that they lied to them it's not true,
A child notices when a parent doesn't want to be involved
Or when in your world they are not revolved,
So, stop this stupid blaming and that stupid thought
It was your child that you never cared about or sought,
So, sad that you don't want to be in your child's life
That parental umbilical cord you severed yourself with a knife,
You were the poison truly and indeed
Love, care and compassion you will never heed,
So, sad that you won't be with your child while they are young
Steps of their youths ladder you'll miss every rung,
And it's wrong when you always want to blame the mother
Remember, it was you hiding underneath the cover,
One day your child unto their mother will question
Where were you in their child and father parental relation,
Instead of the mother breaking the child's heart and seeing them cry
Sadly, then and only then she will tell your child a lie,
She will then tell your child lies why you weren't there
She will tell lies how for their child you really did care,
Her job is to love and to take of your child
The child whom from your life you had happily exiled,
Absence was the reason why you were never there
Your poison was the reason why you never did care,
You weren't there when they brought the toys in
You truly were the poison.
