Dear Dad Poem by Allen Liebenberg

Dear Dad

Rating: 2.5

Life was not from the start all fair
When with questions my heart had to bare
Why am I the only one left behind
When your heart was with others so kind?

Through my life you seemed far away
And that sometimes led our love far astray
I could not understand what makes you YOU
And through that our bond grew blue

Being content with what you gave to me
Made my eyes only selfishness see
You gave me only little of what you could
And for that I can be forever angry, I should

But then my eyes opened in one second so quick
And it made me for myself feel sick
For I realized for the first time only then
That kind and loving is all you have ever been

You wiped your tears, because you had to be strong
You carried me on your shoulders where you believed I belong
You promised me the world, even though I messed up
And or that, I owe you more than my everything, pop
THANK YOU! ! !
