Dear Daddy: Poem by makenzi betts

Dear Daddy:

I'm sorry for not wanting to be perfect.
Although you say i can.
I'm sorry i have an attitude.
It's part of who i am.
I'm sorry i'd rather not be an angel.
I just don't want to be.
I'm sorry i make you mad.
I'm only being me.
I'm sorry i sometimes take for granted,
Just how leaneant you are.
I'm sorry that i'm a teenager.
I wanna just let loose and 'party hard.'
I'm sorry my siblings act better then me.
I ain't putting on a show.
I'm sorry for not everything you ask of me.
I just want you to understand and know.
I'm sorry for some pain i've caused.
None of it was intended.
I understand you try and gimmie your all...
It couldn't be enough.
All i want in life is for it to be semi easy.
I'm sorry for everything- -
Everything, Except for being me.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
My dad has his mind set on his children doing better then what he did. He expects us to be perfect, When there is NO such thing. So i wrote this, to get my hurt out. I understand that he wants the best for us, but i don't need to be pushed to succeed.
