Dear Diary Poem by Key Chan

Dear Diary

Is it a privilege to be heard?
If so, what will become of them, the unfortunate ones?

The way things are going,
Many things, everything, will be left unsaid.

They say, closure is awarded to those
Brave enough to listen,
Hopeful enough to open.

But I, despite the might to utter,
Hold no such privilege as to be heard.

The bravest attempt to be heard,
Ends in a fit of dejection,
Despair and regret,

Without listening,
unsuitable advices are given,
Without empathy,
They turn my cry for help into a confrontation of things I never implied, lectures, lessons.

What good is it?
When I am the only one listening
To things that worsen my despair.

I have seek,
And I have tried
I have searched,
And I have refrained

There are no better days,
There is no way out.

Is this a state of
despondency,
or is it a distress call?
