Dear Mom, From Unborn Poem by Gregory Krabbe

Dear Mom, From Unborn

Rating: 5.0

Dear Mommy I was hoping just to send this on ahead,
See you don’t yet know you were picked for me,

God decided you would have me in 9 months whatever that is,
Watch the spicy foods, I’ll try to watch my knee,

I am excited too cause God said you would always be the one,
Who would care for me when others probably wouldn’t,

I heard my Dad’s a decent guy, and even though he’s fun,
He’ll let me know, when I’ve done things I shouldn’t,

I’ve been given these instructions God said you already knew,
But I thought we should go over them in case,

You might be a little tired on the day that I arrive,
& I’ll be nervous for the first time face to face,

I’m not sure I get the “Pushing” thing, I’m just a little boy,
So if I can just leave that all up to you,

I’ll just rest a while until it’s time, I’ll work on keeping trim,
I’ll exercise there’s not much else to do,

I figure we’ll talk soon enough so I’ll try to let you rest,
You and I will make my Dad feel guilty later,

He’s the oldest and the strongest, & He’s part time now at best,
You’re the nurturer, the nurse and incubator,

But I bet you won’t be sorry, even doing all the work,
And I know you’ll want a daughter now and then,

I’ll try to understand it, but I think that you should know,
God decided I’m a Rooster, not a hen,

And thanks for being a mom who knows a child from a choice,
I guess some folks are hard to understand,

They claim to know we’re gifts from God, but gifts without a voice,
I didn’t know that gifts were ever “planned”,

It’s not my place to judge them Mom, I’ll love them anyway,
but in closing thanks for giving me my turn.

So if you’re surprised remember Romans 8 & 28,
I know there’s still a lot I have to learn,

Because you love me Mom, I have a chance that some will not,
To bring glory to our maker as I grow,

Rest assured I won’t forget you, and I’ll try to make you proud,
In the end it’s not about this life I know,

So raise me as you will, as God would have you do for Him,
For I belong to Him before another,

And I guess I ought to tell you, we are twins, from what I hear,
the other guy in here will be my brother!
