Dear Old Ticker Poem by Monicca Mashele

Dear Old Ticker

Dear old ticker
Dear old friend
Beat, beat as if tomorrow has died
Beat as if tomorrow awaits no more
As you walk the grounds of the barren earth
with suicide clinging by your neck
Beat for tomorrow shall no more be there
As the world turns against you

Dear old ticker
A shield you have been
yet efforts unpaid
Look back no more
As grass around you withers further
An angel you have been
As your wings wither away
Shield no more
for into fragments you have splintered

Dear old ticker
dear old friend
As your personality fades
the widow in you weeps
For you my world trembles
as you in the midst of it all
Shall find yourself
you shall sprout from beneath the rocks
And glow
Dear old ticker
Dear old friend
The world is such a cruel place
But your capability to sprout has been misjudged
Hold on for tomorrow has died
and your tears are yet to dry!
