The nose I smell with sniffs the scent of withered flowers on the grave
The mouth i speak with breaths the words telling me to be brave
The hands I touch with feel the colors of the red, white, and blue
All the hundreds who died the same way, laying next to you
Till at long last I reach the stone with a not so familiar name
As i fall to my knees i recall that things will never be the same
I never knew your face like some did weeks or years ago
I'll never hear your laugh like the did before you dropped so low
I'll never know the way you smiled or the way you held a hand
The way your eyes beamed when you knew you were finally a man
I'll never get to meet you and say just how pleased i am
For fighting for your country, for kids, and moms, and dads
For standing up for freedom when no one else was brave enough
For admitting the you were terrified but still having all the guts
It was hard i can guarentee, tough no less then that
But you were strong and held your ground, i love you so much for that
My deepest gratitude for bleeding red and white and blue
I'm sorry I can't do that much to prove my greatfulness to you
For now i leave you with this thought, It's not much, but its a lot too
Dear soilder thank you very much...I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU
