Dear Straight People Poem by Hannah Johnson

Dear Straight People

Dear straight people,
The a in lgbtqia does not stand for ally it stands for asexual. I mean it's great that you're an ally but it's not great that you're erasing asexuality for your own needs.
Also in 2016 when you decided to throw a straight pride day why did you put it on asexual pride day?
Are we not important you?
Dear straight people did you know that even in the lgbtq community asexuality is underrepresented?
Dear straight people, this is not a phase this is who I am.
I'm asexual stop pretending I don't exist.
Dear straight people throw as many straight pride parties as you want.
Just don't throw them on a day meant to celebrate us.
You can be an ally without the a in lgbtqia.
Dear straight people stop erasing asexuality, only then will you truly be an ally.
