Death Is More Merciful Than Life Poem by Death's Shadow

Death Is More Merciful Than Life

No!
Help!
The prisoner yells
as he's dragged down the long hallway
to his death.

The king laughs manically
as the screams of terror
caress his ears.

The widow weeps
as the knights viciously attack
her and her family.
Stripping away her dignity
the same way they strip away her clothes.

The children cry out
as they're older brother falls,
giving his life to save theirs.

Vicious lies tell the truth
and
death is more merciful than life.

the title says that death is more worthy than life. as we go ahead with the story, which is soothing and relaxing taking us with itself to an imaginary world, it becomes clear that the kind of life experienced in the tale is horrible and depressing. so a less torturing death would be more desirable than an offensive living.
