Death Of A Child Poem by Serame Makhele

Death Of A Child

Rating: 5.0

Infant imbibes teargas and dies
People thirst for water in Brits
toilets don't flush away waste
it's there to stay
oxygen is deadly there
breathing tastes sour there
nostrils of children
in torture
protests a fashionable
national culture
Police protect and serve
the officials
against protesters
whose wish not to disperse
before thurst is quenched
teargas burst
thirsty mothers' breasts
run out of milk
sons and daughters
fed gas- powder
