Death Of A Friendship Poem by Jan E Smith

Death Of A Friendship

When did it happen? And was it all me?
You seem further away then you used to be.

Was it something I said, or the me that I am?
Because I like jelly and you prefer jam?

Is the death of our friendship part of a plan?
Or did it begin with my holding your hand?

Whatever I did or whatever I said,
I'd take it all back or even dropp dead,

If only I knew how to make it all better.
I'd even write you a super long letter.

But I'm stupid you see, just look at my hair.
Too dumb to realize that you just don't care.

Don't worry about me, I'm as tough as they come.
Sure I'll mourn the loss. I may even cry some.

But the lesson I've learned is one of high price.
Sometimes it just don't pay for me to be nice.

So, thanks for the walks, talks and time together.
God bless you dear man for now and forever.
