Death Of Temitope Poem by Oluwatowoju Tiamiyu

Death Of Temitope

Rating: 4.5

Pain in my heart
Tears in my eyes.
Turn the light down low
let me sit in this solemn, dark room so
my body can consume,
some type of clarity,
To keep me from despair,
And this depression I behold.

Like a baobab tree
I sit around unmoving,
Lost in thoughts.
I travel down memory lane,
I look upon the times we shared,
And I remember love.
A drink we shared
A game we played
A life we lived
Moments we had together
Good times
Bad times
Nothing lasts forever
A sad news
A tear I shed.

Thoughts of you,
flow through my mind
insistently.
The thoughts of you
brings tears to my eyes,
stinging, streaming down my face.
I now die a little inside.
Like a baby denied his toy
I cower in the shadow of
hopelessness.
Images of what might have
been,
Taunt me
Memories of yesterday
Take away
My corroded soul,
Within the dropp of a
single tear.

You lived a life full of
honest dreams.
Dreams that only you
could accomplish.
You made everyone around you
smile just by being you.
We laughed at your funny jokes
And watched you transcend
from ordinary to extra-ordinary
gentle man.
You graduated from your dream school,
With the optimism of every fresh graduate
You couldn't wait to start your mandatory
National Youth Service Corp.
You had dreams of working with Etisalat,
You wish to ride a Mercedes Benz 4matic
And give to mama the fruits of her labor.
That day,
Fresh like raindrops on grass
You left Kano for Kaduna
hoping to start your NYSC.
On March 8th 2011 all your
dreams were ripped away.
The car hit a pole, then a
precast concrete kerbs, then it just rolled
and rolled.
We don't know why and never
will. I'm sure.
Five doctors battle to save you
from the grip of death
But I'll never understand
why death took you away.
Nobody knows why dreams
are ripped apart,
Or why God takes anyone
away.
If dying means never seeing
you again, I'd rather
look at your pic every day and smile
while I cry slowly inside my mind.

Goodnight My Dear Friend,
Rest In Peace My Brother.

This poem is about a friend who was killed in a car crash. He was only 28 and had a great future ahead of him. Nobody understands why a person with such dreams that he could accomplish could be taken away from this world.
Temitope was a brother, a friend of mine and many others and I can't really understand why he was taken away. He was the funny and naughty type. Intelligent, Honest, Religious and he didn't deserve to die at such a young age. Memories can carry joy on the wind. And great sorrow...
