Decease Poem by Melissa Hennessy

Decease

Your skeletal frame is rusted
with broken internal guts.
How do you endure?

I’ll bring my knives
and skin you slowly.
You are only that deep.

In lacking consciousness,
you’ll never know.
It all feels the same.

Expel from your casket
and breath in the Earth.
You are nothing.
