Deception Poem by Chase Breeden

Deception

Deception, mere transgression
You keep locked inside yourself
Hiding feelings tucked away
And placed upon the shelf
Forever blind is everyone
You contact everyday
But you still hope that maybe
They will help you find the way
Deception, imperfection
You try to be the best
But then you fall
And they stick you
Up there with all the rest
Unaware of everything
That is behind your back
And doubtful of friendships
Or should I say the lack
Deception, mere collection
Of the burden always faced
Hoping for protection
From the daily pressured haste
Inflating all their egos
Everyone is rushing
But in the end they'll realize
It's just true love they're hushing
Deception, indiscretion
Not thinking before you act
Premonitions, just ignore
The lives that you impact
Acidic rain that falls around
Friendships washed away
Holding on til it hits the ground
And wishing it could stay
Deception, in succession
History repeats
Battling inside my soul
My mind it won't defeat
Time and time again
These problems rear thir ugly head
But deep within the midst of them
Is where I've made my bed
Deception, misconception
Understanding nothing's real
Losing all perception
Of the way I ought to feel
Always hanging onto me
The problems never fade
But hopefully by moving on
The price will soon be paid
Deception, first impressions
Knowing I don't stand a chance
No one cares about what's inside
They go by their first glance
Living up to standards
Makes all love disappear
And hope is slowly fading
By the day and by the year
Deception, pure aggression
I hold it all inside
Continuously building
In my heart and in my mind
I push it to the bottom
And I let it build with time
But I've yet to do a gesture
That's anything but kind
Deception, no congression
It's pulling us apart
Not our situation
But your quick change of heart
You went from good to spiteful
And almost over night
The friendly person I once knew
Disappeared from sight
Deception, a confession
Just take it like a man
Move along, admit you're wrong
And let me take my stand
Stand upon the friendship
That stood so strong before
And stand upon the harmony
We once held in accord
Deception, each transgression
Imperfection, all the rest
Each and every one of them
Hold us back from our best
