Deepavali,
The rows of lights
Illuminating,
Deepavali,
The rows of lamps,
Earthen lamps
Burning,
Wicks dipped in oil
Lighting, emitting light,
Struggling with darkness,
Fleeing ignorance,
Diyas floated on a banan leaf
Into the waters
And the stream carrying it down
In oblation to
Under a dimly star-lit world
During the darker night
The carnival,
The great carnival of lights,
Lights illumining,
Illuminating and illumining,
Fighting with darkness,
Dispelling ignorance
What it lies within and outside,
Lighting the dartk within,
Enriching with the knowledge of the self
The carnival,
The great carnival of lights,
Lights illumining and illuminating.
