Degree In Philosophy For Us All Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

Degree In Philosophy For Us All

Rating: 0.5

The more poems I read on this site

some I merely glance at
because something
a word, an expression
twisted syntax
tells me this person
is not fascinated
by words and the way
they combine
to invigorate
the reader
and make a poem

other poems irritate
because somehow
it's like a plumber
you hire to fix the toilet
and he doesn't know
the difference between
a pipe wrench and a plunger
so he exasperates
the consumer

how does that differ from poets
who post verse that lacks
everything a poem
should possess
except an impassioned belief
that only emotion matters?

Poetic plumbing? ...Now thats got to be a first Mr P...I would not dream of commenting on the deficiencies of 'Masters.Of Poetry'...Fascist views emanating from a literary genius who is less than perfect are likely to be completely ignored. Sid

Mr Pruchnicki...you have every right to voice your comments and opinions But somehow you do not fit the majority of the poets on this site and seem to have an inclination to lean towards the abusive rather than the constructive. The point (my idea) of poetry is to write with warmth and feeling and to give the reader an insight of thoughts...This is all I try to do anyway... ;)

Definition: Poetry is an imaginative awareness of experience expressed through meaning, sound, and rhythmic language choices so as to evoke an emotional response. Poetry has been known to employ meter and rhyme, but this is by no means necessary. Poetry is an ancient form that has gone through numerous and drastic reinvention over time. The very nature of poetry as an authentic and individual mode of expression makes it nearly impossible to define. We all have our own ideas of what poetry is...: 0)))) and don't like we don't read...simple really
