Delusive Cherubs Poem by Jayatissa K. Liyanage

Delusive Cherubs

Rating: 5.0

Butterfly, the symbol of innocence
Arrives dancing, fluttering rainbow wings
Adores plant with pearly eggs
glued atop leaves, buds and pods

Emerging out fiend borer infants,
bore stealthily slyly way through to the pod
Pod demurely allows, accommodates
and even protects, its foe through inadvertence

Borer completes its non-altruistic mission,
ere leaving for the free world, emerald
Grower, sans vengeance, non-optionally reaps
emptiness, amassing disenchantment recompense

World, after all, is bestowed with more butterflies
Nonetheless, delusive cherubs, they are!

The leaves, flowers and pods innocently give accommodation to the larve born out of butterflies! But slowly gnawing at the buds and flowers they grow and through metaphorsis emerge into a butterflies! Without knowing the damage, the plants again welcome... those delusive cherubs! A unique write!
