Depot Town Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Depot Town

Rating: 1.5

Like a pebble on the beach
It could be hastily overlooked…
It is a polished gem within reach

Once this town hummed with activity
VIPs escaped from industrial smoke…
Leaving tangled thoughts in the city

An unyielding quality adheres
Luring a tourists and locals…
Time slows in this atmosphere

The sights stir memories of yesterday
Awakening a spirit like a painter’s brush
Reviving thoughts that time has frayed

Restaurants serve delicious meals
Under canopies with sidewalk floors
An occasional passing train adds appeal

Hand scooped ice cream fills a sugar cone
Shop windows display unique treasures
Antiques freeze time in this ageless zone

A reconstructed bridge spans a lazy river
As water weeds sway beneath the ripples
Capturing flickers of orange sunset slivers

With unhurried footsteps we return to our car
A gentle calmness surrounds and clings
Plans to revisit surface before driving very far
