Depression Poem by Paige Sisemore

Depression

No one listens, no one cares. I fall back from unwanted stares.Lock myself in a room, a dark place to hide. Only to find that my monster followed me inside. It giggles sweetly and gives me a hug. I shop at it like a pesky bug. "Oh my dear, I'll never go away.you see, your heart has been damaged, your mind is a mess and you haven't a friend who can pass the trust test. You've never been wanted, except for by me. Only now I'm what most people see. Your a sad little thing, all bruised and up. Starving yourself has damaged your body. My dear friend anxiety likes to play with your mind; but I hold your heart, and I hurt you sometimes. It's fun to me you see? To see you in pain. Especially when your tears fall like rain. You can stay in this room and fight me if you like. I've fought with many others, but they rarely win. Stay here my dear, sit with me a while. I just have one question, can you fake a good smile? ".......;
