Oh! How I long for the days gone by
When my heart was free of all this
The sorrow combined with raw pity
Clogging heart's avenues with sadness
The source of which none can truly tell
Nor would any be able to surely foretell
Filling all its walls with joyless misery
Inundating it with torment and agony
Broken-hearted, depressed and despondent
I lay on my bed for days, heavy-hearted
No ease did I find from a heart disconsolate
For months, low-spirited and dejected
I suffered perpetually from melancholy
I never thought I ever deserved
The droopy and gloomy feelings I had
Where have gone my feelings of delights?
What suddenly removed my blissfulness?
Few days ago, I dwelt in Elysian Fields
Some month past, I tread the paths of utopia
Fantasyland was where I dwelt with triumph
A supernova I was and no catastrophe
Then of a sudden, all the pleasure disappeared
For no known reason, it just dissolved
Depression is truly a furtive secret
Sneaking up to you when you least expect
To be struck by an underhand assailant
Descending on you with intense ferocity
Frightfully changing your blissful feelings
To a horrifying wish for death, however achy
Seeking relief from the slump at all cost
In death and amnesia, you sought comfort
A visit to the doctor, you contemplate
But what say I is the matter with me
For no knowledge do I have of this subject
How, then, do I dare to achieve this object
Neither do I find courage to even uncover
To bare to my family or to my neighbour
Alone I suffer and sustain depression
Forbidden the joy availed to all
'Til a sudden relief come from nowhere
