Desert Of Solace Lies Poem by Brandon Owens

Desert Of Solace Lies

The wind cuts these hills of sand
As the sun rises on the horizon
Its face hiding but a tiny silver band
Which undulates all I lay eyes on
My melted mind pours out
My mouth is parched with thirst
I close my lips cracked by drought
My teeth grinding against the dirt
The world turns away from reality
Toward judgment that burns my skin
I fall prey to the Never Ending
Repenting for my atrocious sins
That I'd dreamt or could have commit
I look up at the ocean of water still above
The calm clear blue denies that I exist
Innocent is my whim to drink its love
Fooled by the false promise offered
An oasis of hope to push me along
They never listen when I talk to her
She has a sweet voice to sing my song
Dragging my mind, body, and soul
Making lines through time and distance
With hopes in an unclear role
My feet worn raw and covered in blisters
My only companion the black carrion crow
The immortals torture me but who else tries?
Carry these burdens of mine and you'll know
You can lead me out of the Desert of Solace Lies
