Desperately Pusan.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

all her friends
in the neighborhood
died.

two from cancer,
one from a kidney disease
while the other
three met an accident
and died instantly

this caused her so
much sorrow
she attended all those
wakes

desperate in life
with no one to turn to
(because her mother
abandoned her when she
was yet a child) , she

goes out at night
looking for friends:
even those fake ones
with vested interest
are already welcome,

or just the moon and her
spirited drinks, her
monotonous talks, her
newly acquired dreams.
