I begged her to stay
Not taking into account
That having her leave would make her happier
She looked at me
With a smile, blew me a kiss
And no other moment has been sappier
She stayed…for a time
Then the threat
Of her departure
Impended upon my loneliness once more
Pleading with her
To never leave me
But she sadly ambled through the door
She left…for a while
A lifetime to be exact
Never darkened my doorstep again
Never even a phone call to make my day
I held on, unmercifully
Not giving my heart a chance to mend
Forever remembering that she left though I begged her to stay
It hurt…for a time
A time full of a life
A life not lived
Because of regret, anger, and resentment
She left, I stayed
But still she took pieces of me with her
The pieces that thrived and dwelled in contentment
I died…for a while

Great expression, I can feel every word. Sad, but the ending, you died... for a while, showed that you can still live, even through all the pain. excellent job...
