Destroyer Poem by MARINA GIPPS

Destroyer

Rating: 5.0

Destroyer: the name of my ship
that goes swiftly without sails
through tumultuous seas…

The anchor weighs it down
so I throw it overboard.
I am tied to the bottom, whispering,
Destroyer destroyed her.

And sea life swims by,
says, hey, how’s it going? !
Yet I am not going
anywhere…

And why would you name the ship
That name?

I never named it.
It was a parting gift.
It’s bad luck to change the name of a ship
