Detached Wires Poem by Dakota Ellerton

Detached Wires

Like a spider to a fly,
you and I have been a pair for,
what seems like eternity.
The fueds our friendship had suffered,
were inflicted by others.
Though through it all,
I thought of you.
The crimson apple,
had a bite taken.
No longer whole.
Forgive me,
for the mistakes I made.
For the times I put something else first.
You were a kite in the wind,
and I was the string.
We kept eachother in sync.
Now, now what would I do should a girl come to me?
Rub on my lap and reveal her flesh?
I'd turn a blind eye.
Unless ofcourse,
it was innocent enough.
I'll never put anything before the fly again,
unless it be a dire need.
