Detraction Poem by Anushka KISHOR

Detraction

Detraction is what they've faced,
All their lives,
For being who they are, for being alive.
Nevertheless, they've to strive,
For their existence,
cause the chapters must revive,
from their history, to be found in the archive.
The cruel world doesn't acknowledge thy love,
It has its own reasons, to be put above.
Incarcerated in the prison of orthodox mindset,
The society lays down laws to abide by,
Even if it means a life of unfulfillment and sigh.
To break free from the shackles of norms and monotony is what we've been trying to achieve, Only to miserably fail and resort to grieve.
Hope's still alive, aspiration doesn't die
We do one's utmost to make this world better,
Even if, it's all been a big lie.....
