Devadasi, Who Brought Her Here? Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Devadasi, Who Brought Her Here?

Devdasi,
How did she turn into a devadasi,
Who brought it here,
How did she?
The stars fell it,
The palm-lines mesmerized it,
The fate-lines crashed it
When the oracle was made
That the childless devoted couple would
Their first child in the service of the temple,
Gods and goddesses,
The heaven fell upon the yet to be born
With a curse on the head to carry on,
Conspired it they sitting on the courtyard
Which heard it the pillars of the mystic temple
Taking place thereon, going in between
The astrologers, palmists, pundits and florists
In conspiracy with the door-keepers
Drawing out the scrolls of her fate-line, palm-line
As for to be a devadasi,
One in the service of gods and goddesses,
But how can it be,
how will a lonely girl in the company of...?
How to end as a yogan?
