Devil's Night's Angelic Call...... Poem by Jayatissa K. Liyanage

Devil's Night's Angelic Call......

Boo...hoo...hoo Boo... hoo... hoo!
Unusual behavior of pet Brunei
In the impenetrably thick midnight
Whilst all souls were in deep slumber

Sun rose up, smashing the black veil
to witness a void in the landscape behind
Five layered erection's concrete wreckage
lied kissing ground, on the house below

Neighbors, yet in night dresses gathered
Being bewildered, both in panic and sorrow
Rescuers in uniforms, acting prudently
Salvaged, a morn bloomed pink rose bud

Blanket calyx she was in, has failed
Stopping rose bud leaving for heaven
After hours' slogging among wrecks
Uncovered young parents, breathless

Pet Brunei, appearing from somewhere
sniffed and quivered in mournful eyes
Ran all over, searching for something
as if asking "why didn't you care my call....Boo...hoo? "

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A five storied hotel on a mountain slope in the hill capital of Sri Lanka, when not a soul was inside collapsed, allegedly for construction follies. A young couple with their three months old baby girl lived in the house just below were killed on the spot. But the pet doggie of hotel owners having sensed the catastrophe at least a little while before, warned its master helping owners run for their lives, and unfortunately the neighbor family only had to pay with their lives.
