Devotion - Poem by David Thomas

I don't wanna say goodbye
to everything i never had.
i don't wanna say hello
to that great big place below.
i don't wanna say goodbye
if it means you'll die alone.
i don't wanna say hello
if it means you'll go to that place down below.
i only wanna lift you up,
so when i fail you'll land on earth,
i'll push you up into the clouds.
no i'm not giving up,
but my foot's already out the door,
i'm in the middle of the road
The car's not gettin any slower,
and i'm already far below...
i don't wanna say goodbye
if it means that you can't fly.
i don't wanna say hello
if it means you'll fall below.
i don't wanna say hello
if it means you'll fall below.
i don't wanna say goodbye,
if it means you'll never ever fly.
so i can say goodnight,
cause i'm not gettin any younger,
and the car's not slowin down...
no, the car's not comin slow...
