Dial Tone Poem by Emily Wallace

Dial Tone

All I hear is a dial tone...
I'm telling you how I really feel inside
Telling you how badly I hurt
How much I cry
How much I really try
To make this work out with us
But all I hear is a dial tone...
I'm telling you how angry I am
Telling you how broken I am
Why I've hurt myself
Why I've had enough
But all I hear is a dial tone...
I'm telling you about my messed up life
Telling you about my screwed up family
How much we fight
How loud they scream and yell
But all I hear is a dial tone...
I'm telling you how scared I am
Telling you how depressed
How I wish that everything was really okay
Because it's not
Even if I say it is fine,
It isn't
But all I hear is a dial tone...
I'm telling you how disturbed I am
Telling you how confused I am
Why I speak so low
Why I'm lost in my thoughts
And why I like to be alone
I'm telling you why I hate to be touched
Why I try to succeed so hard in school
Why I hate my life
How much I really feel
How much pain and anger I have inside me...
But... all I hear... is a dial tone...

Nice poem! very sad though. Sometimes, people can be so cold as portrayed in your poem.
