Dialectics

Have you ever felt sad…and happy
Have you ever laughed…and cried
Have you ever felt alive…and dead
Have you ever loved…and hated at once?
Where your emotions run helter-skelter

Doesn't it pain you that you talk…and they don't listen
Doesn't it puzzle you that you fail…without reason
Doesn't it ache deep inside that there is a heart…but made of stone
Doesn't it bother you that there are golden shells all over…that are empty?
Where you don't know what to expect and don't try to find out

Has it ever occurred to you that life could be dangerous…and funny
Has it ever hit you that you could be exceedingly rich…and desperately poor
Has it ever struck you that there really could be a desert…in the sea
Has it ever looked good… yet bad?
Where your eyes tell you otherwise and life is such a picture of paradoxes

Tell us, will you slug or hug…a long lost friend
Will you eat and drink…at an enemy's place
Will you shout or whisper…your prayers to your Lord
Will you give up or try again…after a trip or fall?
And jeopardize your chance at happiness, when you well know what you want

Can you paint a picture of you?
