Did you run towards danger
When others ran away
Did you comfort a mother crying
When death visited her that day
Did you stand for the right
When others melted away
Did you hold as sentinel
Keeping danger at bay
Did you take them off the streets
When they were outside the law
Did you stand on oath in court
As you were attacked to the core
All these things I remember now
That old age is visiting me
For I know what is needed
To live in the sun and be free.
