Different Poem by Atticus Mortimer

Different

Freak, Weirdo, Nerd, and Ugly
these are just words,
aren't they?

This is a poem, my poem,
Nay, our poem, a poem for those who live,
Who live beyond the normal range of existence,
We are alike, In more ways than one,
You have big dreams?
Well so do I!
You choose to read while others play sports?
Well so do I! Now tell me we aren't so different,
There always been a person or people in our lives,
They torture us and jeer at us,
and do you know why?

Because we are different!
We are smart, and talented and special,
We aren't the same but we are quite similar,
and whether you say hello, or hola, bonjour,
or even konichiwa,
We are the same kind of people,
We are different,
We are ourselves,
and that,
Is so much better than being normal.
