Different Kinds Of Heroes Poem by Jan Freundschuh

Different Kinds Of Heroes

If I were being robbed
And Robin Hood appeared
Bow drawn, and
Ran the creep away,
I'd be one happy maiden in distress.

If somebody pushed me down,
(In elementary school) ,
And Jesus came on by,
And helped me up,
And patted me on the head,
And then patted the mean boy's shoulder
As He passed him by....
I'd be confused.

But what if I found out, that
38 years later,
This boy, now man, was
Walking by a burning house
With screaming mother in the doorway
Dropped his groceries and ran inside
To grab her sleeping child!

Then I'd understand,
That we are all slowly
Metamorphosing.

Robin Hood's my kind of hero.
But Jesus has the superpower
Of understanding Time.

So He's my Superhero.
And I do love them both.
