Different Strands Poem by Barry Van Allen

Different Strands

I am not going to apologize,
for I can't see what I've done wrong,
except to keep from you,
what I have known all along.

Because, I wanted to be sure,
I let this go on much too long,
it is plain we both deserve a place,
where we feel we can belong.

I've seen too many unmatched sets,
and I am not one to forget,
the pain of forcing something,
that was never meant to fit.

You never knew just who I am,
' nor I the same of you,
life's woven us from different strands,
you won't admit it, yet...
but, somehow know it is the truth.

Let's be happy - - -
we were happy for a while,
we brought each other's lives,
some needed smiles.
