Dig Down Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Dig Down

Dig
Dig down
Dig deep
The winding stairs
Go down
Down
Down
Dig
Dig
But touch not the bones
Honor the skeletons
The brown turning bone
And
The white bigger bones:
History be in them
And tales
And Art
And Beauty
Scent of the magical:
Proliferated
In this our civilization
On the Stage came
Dancing
Leaping
Man
Man-Human
Then a Shot
He bent
Touching his belly and
The blood gushing
He bent
Then fell
Rose not
Moved not
In History
In Civilization
The Man
The Man-Human.
