Dear Child!
Do not snivel over trifles,
Do not complain, do not cry
It's just another broken toy,
Replaceable, insignificant, just an object to play with.
Do not be sad for that fight you had with your friend
It means nothing
It's just a playmate you lost
You'll find a new one; in fact you'll find plenty.
Do not be affected by your grades
They're just letters
They do not show your calibre
Just that you'll pass.
Do not rejoice when cheered for a triumph
It's just a little game,
You win some, you lose some
It's pointless at any rate.
Do not seek attention
Get used to the indifference
Forget those who ignore
It is no harm, pay no heed.
Life will bring you joys in abundance
And also trouble and problems
Much greater in magnitude
So all this is NOTHING.
Dear Grown-up!
The toy is my treasure
Extremely precious
I sincerely care for the ‘object to play with'
For playing is all I do.
My friend means a lot
For she's the only other person I know
And though I might find plenty later
For now, it's her or none.
My grades and triumphs are not pointless
They're results of what I do
Even if they're inconsequential
They're the only consequences I face now.
Attention I need undivided
I ask yours in return for mine
As for those who don't give me any,
It is no harm, but I simply dislike them.
Life might bring me joys in abundance
With trouble and problems of greater magnitude
Presently though, these are the ones life has brought me
And they're NOT nothing, for they are all I have, all I am.
Little hopes, little problems, little complaints
I have, for I am, but, little
It is just a matter of proportion
My world is little, just like me.
Good Poem. The elements to be compared were very meticulously chosen.
