Dipper (Aka 'Old Fuddy') Duddy Poem by Alexander Johnson

Dipper (Aka 'Old Fuddy') Duddy

For the presents in your 70th year,
I thought I'd get you some new 'old' gear!
Some false teeth and a walking stick,
Some reading glasses..3 inches thick.
Incontinence pants, or some big print books,
A course of Botox to maintain your good looks!
A liquidiser to mush your dinner,
And a walking frame they call a Zimmer.
Some wrinkle cream to puff your face up,
A looking glass for things not quite 'close up'.

I give you these things in thanks of the years,
The laughs, the fun and all of the cheers.
Of being there and being my Dad,
and cheering me up, when I was sad.

But back to your pressies, the new 'old' gear,
A new hearing aid, for your left ear.
A new bus pass for getting about,
A replacement, for the one you've worn out! !
A name plaque Saying 'Dipper Duddy',
We can now change the 'Dipper' to say 'Old Fuddy'!

I give you these things, for such things as,
The joy and happiness and 'all that Jazz'.
You being a part of my life makes me feel glad,
Thank you, for being a Dad.
