Dirge Poem by Meng Lim Dr

Dirge

You will come back
to me after so long
but my voice I would have lost
no more can I sing any song-

life's about time and where
our hearts we place
the green field we roamed has turned barren
and sadness now bears its mark on our face-

so inviting was once the sea
there was dance in every wave
no bird hovers over the stagnant waters
each present moment is devoid of grace

and this to me is what my heart says:
memories you must let go and not save
peg your affection on what might follow
don't bury your love in the past grave
