Distances Poem by Marc Kaiser

Distances

Rating: 5.0

In the vastness of this country
I could not be further from my love
I stranded on the Pacific Coast
Though beautiful
with tall fir trees coming right down to the green waters
All shrouded in rolling mists or
the sea sparkling with diamonds in summer sunshine
She on the Atlantic
lovely too
in a different way with red earth
stunted trees and their queer ways
What separates though is not just geography
That can be overcome
It's that I am a poor man
and crazy
And that she refuses to love anyone
The space between two hearts can be greater
Than all the miles between Victoria BC and Sydney NS
