Distant Star Poem by Claire Capuras

Distant Star

Rating: 5.0

I sat here lost in time,
Near enough to admire your borrowed light.
Yet far enough, only to sigh,
I lift this hand to touch you -unreachable.

I will just look at you from here.
But this cannot hinder my love for you,
As I watched you shower everyone with love
Though in my imagination I'm the sole receiver.

You're seated on a throne across my humble dwelling,
Yet I can feel your presence from here.
I watched the universe conspire against us.
Rules unbreakable to anyone -gravity.

You're in my line of sight yet out of my grasp.
I'm a mere atom of dust in this vast universe.
And together we're living in a different dimension.
We are together but not for long because soon the sun will drive you away.
