Distensible Movements Poem by Michael Timothy Rose

Distensible Movements

This angstrom of distance,
Not electromagnetic,
Has passed between us
Two,

The sound of heat
Generated in a room a dusty
Basement
Has been interjected
By us

Two,
Clashing like atoms
Not contained
In the neutrino silence
Of anatomy

And the distance between
Our bodies
Ended suddenly, or sullenly,

Like any and all still air
That lay between us
Before spiraling in circles
I could see before my eyes
In the milieu
placed placidly

Beyond your collarbone
I saw,
draped
By warm, ropy strands of hair
So long before I could measure the distance,

So long
Before I could measure the

Time,
We were equaled in velocity
And
Bounding, bandits
Of mirth,
Into gaping holes
In the salient azurite-blue continuum
Past
Meager light;
Stealing.

We both came out on the opposing side-
Lips, hips, chests, breaths, legs
Meshed to together
In some unplotted disorder,
More intent points of collision plotted

Without
Any need for a-
Black Hole,

And the universe became a map,
Two indefinite, amorphous nebulas
Silhouetted by paltry incandescent spiraling bulbs
In the spiraling, celestial sphere.
