I Was Happy Poem by Michael Timothy Rose

I Was Happy

Rating: 5.0

I was happy
tonight;
and though the fire could have burned me
like a moth
to a seductress lamp light,
I was happy.

I will admit-
I thought of you for a moment,
but in truth,
it was only
-for a moment,
like an electrical sigh,
and quickly
it ran through me,
and the evanescence
-was okay.

Here with you, I found a polish in my bag
that made me blushbright
all as good as new,

It only took me
so long
to find it,
to let the trickle of blood pause
and reel,
to savor the swell and feel of blood
in someone
who feels blushed too.

I was happy
tonight,

happy for the first time in a long time.

well penned poem, .. It only took me so long to find it, to let the trickle of blood pause and reel, to savor the swell and feel of blood in someone who feels blushed too.
