Distilled Poem by El Joaquin

Distilled

thought i needed you
that i would be lost
not complete or alive
amiss and untrue

so i wandered around
searching rest and virtue
leaving pieces behind
she followed and found

i found another out
when she touched me
healing old wounds
she left me no doubt

she brought me home
tethered me to her arms
till the universe ends
and no longer to roam

i'm in her days
full of her nights
hair in my face
it's in my always

her fingers in my hair
eyes fixed and dilated
i seek no more
love tramples despair

i breathe in her eyes
live in her breath
find solace in her scent
stand in her sunrise

never to leave
know i'm not naive
and i still believe
together we cleave
