Disunited States Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Disunited States

Disunited States

In winter of Nineteen-Sixty-Eight
I got on aeroplane.

Alitalia to Rome and Montreal,
New York and Texas.

We knew Texas for
Their guns and the cowboys.

Being in San Anton, Laredo,
Felt a sign: "You are wrong! "

Texas had farms and oil
On top of the cowboys.

Sort of kind, religious,
Extremely Red Neck.

You were liked if with them
And if not, abandoned.

Regardless of the said,
Texas was one State
In what was USA.

But today, things differ
Thanks to the president,
His scissors divide them.

Why should the enemies,
Or the ones that compete,
Think, plan, and worry?

Soon, maybe, in this year
They will be divided.

US will be mentioned
As ancient empire.

With roots in Mesopotamia,
For me, this is normal.
