Do Not Bomb Basra Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Do Not Bomb Basra

Do not bomb Basra

Quarantine was after
-accepting the bombing
-of Basra…

Wrote my "Will" after test,
- "My dear children, family…
-I did as father would; if had to…"

Once Dad said:
- "Will send sons to front;
-in case of an attack on Iran…
-I will go if they fail or if fall…
-invaders can only see corpses…"

Time had come for me as
-flier, officer…

Nation paid and trained
-salary to feed wife, children…
-and the ones I had helped! "

Time had come for pay back
-after vicious attack
-by planes and the tanks
-of Saddam, which I saw as Reagan's…

Enemy had come and occupied
-great parts of Iran
-brave we, had our guts and blood…

Time had come
-to attend Oracle, sacrifice
-two crews got ready…
-tested over the Lake Bakhtegan
-for bombing their city
-using the Hercules
-of course, was dangerous
-but who cared?

Khomeini was at top; he stopped:
- "Do not bomb innocent citizens! "
