Do Not Fear Death Poem by RIC BASTASA

Do Not Fear Death

why do you fear death?

did you not notice
that everyday
we always experience
death?

do not pretend
that you are alive
look at yourself
in the mirror
and see
the ghost in you
at most
they tell you
to love yourself
and you
believe them

they too are dead
and they
have forgotten
said fact

they are simply
preoccupied
with their parties, and drinking, and laughing

coping up mechanisms
and societal norms
and preconditionings
and lies
