Do Not Tell Me….. Do Not Promise Me Poem by Tiffny Rhodius

Do Not Tell Me….. Do Not Promise Me

Do not tell me how my beauty fails in comparison to the moon,
Or how my smile out shines the brightest stars.

Do not tell me that we will be together forever,
For no one can truly say what is in the future.

Do not tell me you will never leave,
Just tell me that you love me.

Do not promise me happily ever afters,
Just promise me hear and now.

Do not promise me the jewels of the Nile,
Nor the pearls of the deep blue sea,
Just promise me you will always
Be there for me.

Do not tell me of fairy tale lifestyles,
Just give me a lifetime of your love.

Do not promise me the world,
But just accept my love as I have yours.

I love this poem! I really liked the part 'Do not promise me the jewels of the Nile, Nor the pearls of the deep blue sea, Just promise me you will always Be there for me.' That is such a beautiful paragraph, really calming and peaceful, but full of comand at the same time. Very good work!
